Dear parents,
My name is Jodi Browne and I am a new entrant to the DS community - my daughter Sadie van der Molen was born last March. Recently I visited the The School of Dance, to learn more about the DragonFly Programme for Learners with Down Syndrome. The Programme works with children with DS and integrates music, dance and academic skills to build confidence and abilities. (www.theschoolofdance.ca). It was an inspiring visit.
The DragonFly team has offered to host an interactive introduction to the program, for parents of young children with DS, Friday March 13th, from 4:00-5:00 Barbara Roblin, Director of Programming for DragonFly and Merrilee Hodgins, Artistic Director of The School of Dance, along with some of the DragonFly dancers and their pianist, invite us to come to their studio space, to see and learn and move with them, and by this to get a sense of the spirit of the Programme. We are invited to join in the movement and be led by the dancers. (No specific dance clothing is required).
This is a unique opportunity and one that I hope others will share my enthusiasm about. Tea, conversation and cookies will follow.
Please indicate your interest to participate by March 3rd so we can determine if we have sufficient numbers to go ahead.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
